Story
At To70, we’re a team of aviation enthusiasts passionate about airports and aviation.
To celebrate our company’s 25th anniversary, we wanted to do something extraordinary. Birdman was the perfect challenge—after all, we’re supposed to be aviation experts! To mark this milestone, we’re also taking a nostalgic trip back to the 2000s, blending memories with a bit of fun.
More importantly, this event gives us a chance to support an incredible cause: Angel Flight Australia. This aviation-related charity provides free, non-emergency flights and ground transportation to help people in rural and regional Australia access essential healthcare.
We’ve seen the life-changing work of Angel Flight firsthand. One of our colleagues was at Moruya Airport when an Angel Flight plane arrived to transport a family taking their child to the hospital. Hearing their story highlighted how vital this service is for so many Australians.
Now, about our Birdman aircraft... Are our team’s engineers, architects, town planners, and air traffic controllers experts in aircraft design? Well, not quite! Thankfully, you won’t see our craft joining the Angel Flight fleet! We’re pretty sure our plane will end up at the bottom of the Yarra, but we’re here for the adventure.
Our pilot—who has a recreational pilot certificate—is ready to brush up on her emergency landing skills over the river. Inspired by the Sydney 2000 Olympics (and a certain iconic Nikki Webster moment), we’ll recreate the spirit of that time with no strings attached—except, perhaps, to our plane!
Our aircraft will be decked out in Y2K nostalgia, featuring highlights like the Nokia 3310, Virgin Blue, and pop culture icons such as Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston.

Angel Flight Australia
Angel Flight is a charity that coordinates non-emergency flights to help country people trying to deal with the triple trouble of bad health, poor finances and daunting distance. All flights are free and may involve patients travelling to medical facilities anywhere in Australia. Angel Flight regularly coordinates up to twenty flights per day. Flights are conducted by volunteer pilots in their own aircraft. Angel Flight operates Australia-wide with a growing network of pilots and aircraft.
