Story
They say it takes a village and I am just one of the villagers doing my bit to vanquish cancer. When I reflect on my life, the life I have now is in part due to the Jac. She was unapologetically her, our biggest ally and the one to encourage us to step outside our comfort zone. We have all learnt to live better through our time with her.
Having already beaten breast cancer in 2015, in 2023, in it returned with avengence. During this time, Jac achieved something extraordinary—raising over $30,000 for charities, including Love Your Sister, while bravely battling stage IV metastatic breast cancer.
Throughout her fight, she was deeply moved by the overwhelming support from her fundraising efforts. She often said it was “too much,” but in my heart, I knew it was the least we could do for her.
Sadly she never saw the final outcome of her efforts, having found her release from this horrible disease on 05/03/2023.
The reasons to nose dive into the Yarra as the pilot of the Flying Fluff:
1. Like Jac, I love a good dress up
2. It looks hilarious
3. Why not do something for a good cause Love Your Sister
Love Your Sister approaches cancer with care, humour and dedication. Love Your Sister supports precision treatment for ALL cancer patients, whatever the cancer, regardless of location, age, income, or status. They strive for the right treatment for every cancer patient, first time, every time. Living in regional Victoria, this ethos is particularly important to me and many of the supporters who live in Wonthaggi.
The Flying Fluff will be a shimmering, holographic creation that catches the sunlight as it soars through the air. Her symbol of strength, along with the Love Your Sister logo, will be proudly displayed on the costumes and glider, paying tribute to the amazing woman she was.
Will The Flying Fluff fly or flop? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure—it will be a celebration of Jac’s life, strength, and the love that will continue to surround her forever.

Sadly, Jac didn’t live to see the final donations, passing away in hospital just a month after her 48th birthday. In honor of what would have been Jac’s 50th birthday this February, I’ve decided to do something a little crazy, but a whole lot of fun.
